i personally posses and higly recommend the 'illusion of life' book by 2 former members of the 'nine old men' team: Ollie Johnston AND Frank Thomas

"illusion to life" is practically a prerequisite. how about something more interesting.

i'm going to soon buy the new oscar fischinger book by the late bill moritz soon.

richard williams. the animator's survival kit.
up tillnow, it's still BY FAR the best book on animation i've read..
It actually HELPED me a lot as oposed to a lot of other fine books that merely recap what you already know.

I cast my vote with Pascal's.

I've found The Animator's Survival Kit to be particularly helpful in breaking down walk cycles.

As one who enjoys animation but has no formal training, this book makes trying new techniques seem less daunting. Very inspirational as well.

Williams really breathes life into this book.

Okay I've gushed enough.
