Hey guys, couple questions for you.

New member here, love the site. I'm a writer, and artist, and I've got two questions for you guys.

1st. Has anyone here received a meeting with a major network (Cartoon Network, Warner Bros., Nickelodeon, etc.) without an agent? If so how did you manage to get them to meet with you? I ask because I had the chance to talk with someone who's worked in the field of animation for some years now and they said they didn't have an agent, they handled their own meetings. But I also know must networks don't accept unsolicited material.

2nd. Does anyone know of any agents, or agencies who cater to folks in the animation field. Did some goggle searches and didn't really find anything worth while.

Welcome to the AWN Forums 91heads.

Call up the studios and ask to how you go about pitching show ideas. It's the job of the development departments to find new shows for their studio, so they should be pretty helpful on how to pitch. Keep in mind though that they are very busy people and might not be able to talk to you right then. Just keep friendly and understanding.

As for agencies, look for the Gotham Group. They specialize in animation. At least they did if they are still around.

Thanks Monkey Man

Thanks for the great insight, and the late night response. But I guess since you're in sunny California its not too late out there. I had a friend who worked for Gentle Giant Studios for a little while, think it's in Burbank or somewhere near by, but he loved the CA lifestyle. But thanks again, I'll try checking out the Gotham Group. And the calling the studios is a great idea but it couldn't be that easy could it? Have you had any success with this method? Seems like they might just give you the old run around, but I guess that's where the persistence and determination comes in handy.
