I will be attending that school in the fall too. I have toured the school and was quite impressed with the faculty and the facilities. Though most of the program is 2D based they do ofter classes on 3D animation in the department of Rigging, Modeling, Texturing, and Animation. Also the school as many connects with the local 2D animation studios like Film Roman, Nickelodeon, and Klasky Csupo, as well as Disney. See you in the fall. What I do like about the program is it firm foundation in traditional drawing skills and it shows in the student's portfolios that I have seen.
What made you decide to go to CSU Fullerton. Just curious!
One reason: my parents are concerned about a an established 4 year university degree type program. There appear to be many great Art/Design or Vocational Schools specialing in Animation, but they are being conservative and prefer that I choose a traditional 4 year college experience. Living on campus, student services common on college campuses, a Bachelors degree versus Associate or Certificate program. Things like that.
I am still keeping an eye on some of the other schools like SCAD, Ringling, Full Sail, etc. but I want to look at pros and cons to all that is available. Those schools are pretty expensive when you add up the total costs. Cal State Fullerton is very reasonable, even for out-of-staters like me. I am in the MW, so not alot of schools around here for Animation.
It is much easier to get settled in a traditional 4 year University environment than having to worry about finding an apartment, not knowing the new area, and things like that, etc.
Thanks again for all of the info. I appreciate it! Good Luck next year!
Actually I have decided to wait another year before I transfer. I found a community college near the school where I can finish ALL my lower division art classes and I don't have to pay for them (Thankyou BOGW).
Out of state student. Ouch!!! I sure it would be cheaper than say Cal Arts or SCAD.
