I'm just kidding about the boobs thing - I love them but don't need to see them. In fact, most of the time, I'm disappointed seeing them in movies or such because it's totally unnecessary and used just to get some male attention.
Anyway, I always go for a compelling story. On of my favorites was the series Gargoyles because of its tightly interwoven storylines and characters. Currently, I'm working on a project that takes a lot of inspiration from Gargoyles, on both a writing and artistic standpoint.
My Story Synopsis!!
Once upon a time there lived a young boy, a boy with big dreams to become a great warrior but as life stands, He’s a stable boy for his mentor and guardian Belzar. He was never satisfied with his normal life, and naively dreams of great battles and heroic deeds. He thinks he should be a brave warrior instead of being stuck as a stable boy for his guardian’s farm animals
but he’s dream can only be fulfilled through his training with Belzar.

Thats not really a synopsis Echi, more like the beggining of the characters description. Does he leave the farm? Why? What does he do when he leaves the farm? Does he become a great warrior? Does he fail and return home? Is being a warrior everything that he hoped it would be and more? Or was it not everything it was cracked up to be and figure out that his work on the farm was more honorable?
It's always good to figure out the "why" for things happening. Don't just write things in because it's cool. Or you can write things in that are cool, but figure out why someone is doing something. This will add a ton of depth to your story and characters.
Oh and not everyone wants to see the same thing, even if it's really good. Write what you like, and it'll show on screen. If you create a sci-fi show, but you don't really like sci-fi, it'll show.

I like that! That's almost pithy enough for a sig! :D
If you create a sci-fi show, but don't really like sci-fi, you'll create stuff like Glen Larson's original Battlestar Galactica, Galactica 1980, Buck Rogers...etc....

Good point. Look at something like Dora the Explorer or Blues Clues. They sell SO much junk based on it it's not even funny!

One word: Boobs.
Definitely.
The genre most likely to succeed in animation is material aimed sqaurely at pre-school children. Its the bigeest market, and where the most money can be made--but is the most creatively vapid of all the possible mediums.

well, boo for example! I don't know if you seen it on BBC... http://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/characterpages/boo/
there was such a big uproar at the cartoon master animation market (a "market" run by cartoon media where European studios can present their ideas, and with luck, sell them) when it was first presented that it was the most pre-sold serie that year (one of the biggest pre-sales successes ever).
I was offered a job on it but, it was so mind numbingly... well to be honest I don't even know what word to use :D , that I had to pass.
"check it out, you know it makes sense!" http://miaumau.blogspot.com/
Isn't that two words.
I want to see a good story. My favorite shows when I had cable were the Thornberries, Rocket Power, Hey Arthur, By Ginger, and those type of shows, I don't think I saw any boobs in them. I also liked Rugrats. Simpsons, and King of Hill are two I don't like to miss either.
You choose if you want to do adolescent rank humor, or want to tell a good story. I also watch Chucky the Shark, King Tutenstein and Lilo and Stitch the series on Saturdays.
Pat Hacker, Visit Scooter's World.
I agree with Phacker, if you really want to make an impact, these are the types of shows you want to use for inspiration. They all have great characters and use solid story telling. Another great story/character driven show was Doug, espically the Disney version.
Medieval + Fantasy Theme!
My Story is a Medieval theme with a hit of Fantasy, Magic and myth. i will show the story in the next post. its inspired by the Avatar: The Last Airbender who does more of a chinese, martial arts theme.
what do u'all think of a Medieval theme for a show?
