I've been working on more 3D stuff lately. Ominigon inspired me to push my limits with 3D a little, so I've been creating a few scenes and have decided to create a bunch of assorted parts to model bikes from for scenes that use more bikes (or whatever).
By the way, Omni, I printed out your tips on combining the 2D and 3D and have been slowly getting it worked into how I'm going to do things. I've sort of decided to do the bikes in 3D with flat color materials and then animate the riders onto them. Unless I find that looks lame, in which case I'll use it all for reference/tracing. But it's all starting to sink in. I may have a few other questions if you don't mind, but I'll try to contact you. Thanks again.

it's a little hard to see how well the bike's been modelled since the camera is so far away that most of the picture is that street foreground, but it looks alright as far as I can tell. are you planning on texturing and lighting this piece, or is this just a modelling exercise?
apples : oranges ::
I feel pretty good about the overal shape of the bike, but I'm still figuring out textures and bumpmaps. I used a bumpmap to imitate the fins on the engine cylinders, but it didn't come out that great. I've trying to get a material applied to the pumps, but have been having some trouble with it so far. It'll happen.
And even though you can't see them (the pipes on a harley on the right), I just realized there are no pipes on it. Also had trouble with the seat.
