Hollywood Shorts calls for entries

The September edition of HOLLYWOOD SHORTS, a monthly short film series, will select ten animated shorts that will be screened at THE GIG on September 12, 1999 in Los Angeles, California. Shorts must be no longer than 30 minutes. A special edition of HOLLYWOOD SHORTS will be broadcast via the internet covering the Los Angeles fest. The deadline is July 31, 1999.

Moondance International Film Festival calls for entries

The Moondance International Film Festival will be held in Park City, Utah, during the Sundance Film Festival in January 2000, and is open to all women screenwriters and film-makers from any country. All finalists and semi-finalists will have their work read in a public staged reading or viewed at The Moondance International Film Festival. Awards will be given for best original screenplay, best independent feature film, and best documentary, animation or short film. The entry deadline has been extended to September 1, 1999.

Film Roman/Level 13 Entertainment and the prestigious Rico Gallery are holding the first ever Film Roman Fine Arts Competition. Entries are welcome from artists/animators of all ages in any medium including drawings, sculptures, paintings and ceramics. Teletoon's Animation Scholarship Award Competition

Teletoon, Canada's all-animation channel, is holding their second annual Animation Scholarship Award Competition, recognizing the efforts and financial needs of young Canadian art students. Humanitas Prize entry call

April 15 is the deadline to send in animation scripts for the 1999 Humanitas Prize recognizing "humanizing achievement in television and feature film writing." A $10,000 prize is given to the writer whose children's animation script most fully communicates human values. This year, the Children's Animation category now includes both non-primetime and primetime shows. The Chicago International Children's Film Festival (CICFF) is now accepting entries for its 16th annual festival, which will take place at Facets Multimedias theaters, October 14-24, 1999. The CICFF is the largest competitive festival of children's films and videos in North America, with screenings of over 150 films and videos created for children ages 6-13. SIGGRAPH 99, taking place in Los Angeles from August 8-12, is currently accepting entries for the Computer Animation Festival. The selected films and videos will appear in either the daily screening room, the Electronic Theater or in other special events. Entries can be sent in many areas including animation, entertainment, special effects, visualization, research and technique, education, architecture, art, music, dance, non-narrative and experimental works, commercial productions and student-produced works.
