3D Training

Hi everyone. I may be looking at doing some further training in 3D and need some advice.

Does it make much difference if you do your training in 3D Studio Max or Maya? For example, if you did it all in Maya, but then went for a job with a company that used Max, would it matter?

Help Needed

Hi Guys,
I have done my Bachelors in Animation from Australia. I could not clear my last set of papers and since visa regulations are strict I cannot go back to complete my education there.
I am looking forward to come to States as a transfer student and finish my Bachelors in Animation (I specialize in 2-D).

Can someone please suggest me some schools that accept Transfer students. If it helps I am from India.

Thank you very much in advance

Best Regards

Softimage XSI beginner tips.

By Adam Duff | Friday, May 28, 2004 at 8:14am

Hey everyone. I'm posting this subject on the exucator's forum. This is probably where this thread belongs anyways.

Listen. I'm learning Softimage XSI, and maybe once in a while, I can throw questions out to anyone that might have the answers, or techniques.

Remember that I'm a beginner here, so my questions will start off basic.

Here are a few...

MODELLING

- I want to merge objects together. For example, taking 3 poly meshes, and combining them into one solid poly mesh.

To Ed and anyone else who can tell me about Florida

Hi,

Ed I noticed you work at Ringling in Sarasota. Can you (or anyone else) give me some advice please?

I live in Australia and there is a pretty good chance my husband will get a posting in December to Jacksonville for 2 years with the Air Force. We find out in July whether he's got it or not (fingers crossed). I'm pretty excited about the prospect of going, as you have a lot more to offer in USA with animation. I'm hoping that I can get some training and/or experience while we are there.

My students suspended me

Dear friends,

just wanted to share my grief with the only people who can manage to understand what I mean.

I just came back from the school where I'm teaching animation, and my boss told me I'm suspended until the end of the semester. He said that a group of students went to the school's director and said that they weren't going to pay for the Animation class, because it was delayed and that I wasn't going until the end of the class' end time, etc.

The problem is that:

1. None of them have ever mentioned any of these "problems" to me

'Way to go, Everyone at AWN!' :D

Great to see the Forums are back online and we can all continue the marvelous, helpful, encouraging, inspiring animation discussions.

Good to hear this new format will be more secure.

Norm :)

Life can be tough enough for animators without having our lifelines unplugged!

student films done?

By moot | Tuesday, April 27, 2004 at 9:03pm

The sun is shining. The flowers are blooming. Spring is in the air. It's nearing the end of the year for many animation students around the world! Would any of you animation students care to show us what you've been toiling over all year?

I would post something, but I have nothing, since I'm not an animation student.

So Sad.

But I'm sure everyone around here would like to see what you guys have been doing.
