Year Four of the Toronto Animated Image Society’s Artist in Residence program promises funding and resources for one Canadian artist and one international artist in support of the production of new animated work, with a deadline to apply by September 29, 2017.
Launched by creative studio VR Playhouse, the program consists of three essential, six week courses covering 3D production, interactive 360 video and storytelling in virtual reality starting July 10, with other intensives planned.
Design Studio Press’ ‘The Silver Way: Techniques, Tips, and Tutorials for Effective Character Design’ is a comprehensive book on character design, contains a foreword by ‘Penny Arcade’ artist Mike Krahulik and raised $114,139 from 1,700 backers.
The free, unconventional, six-month professional training program for students with no previous experience will consider natural ability, and is scheduled to launch in Bourg-lès-Valence, France in 2018.
