Dodgy Film Websites

There are several websites you can submit short film to. Theres nothing wrong with this, except that some have very dubious copyright licenses. I thought Id start a list of such vultures. Please contribute to this list.

I will also start clones of this thread on other web-forums, which I will list as I add them.

Versions of this thread so far:
Animators World Network
Blender Artists
FlashMoves
Myspace

Britfilms.tv
Ask for joint copyright of any film they chose to display.

Current.tv
The website for a television station. They will buy short films, and in doing so they buy the copyright, though they do allow you to send the film to festivals (yippee ). If you re-edit the film you can then own the re-edit, but they insist on getting first refusal to buy the film again.

zzizzlfilms.com
with these guys you can sell films to mobile-phone users, maintaining copyright. They get half the profits. The reason I include them here is that theres a seven page contract. Though it looks OK Id like to hear if anyone else has used them, and how well it worked.

Id also curious to know if creative Commons Licensing can protect you from sharks like these. creativecommons.org

This is a good thread. People really should be more aware of ALL the guidelines when submitting their work to festivals and distribution sites. Thanks for posting! :)
