I'm sort-of new to the creation of animation. I watch a ton of animation everything from Studio Ghibli stuff to Svankmajer stuff, though I prefer the Svankmajer stuff. Anyway, I make microfilms and films that most consider "video art", but I've always included some form of animation in these.
Anyway, maybe I missed a post somewhere, but does anyone have any suggestions on animators that create non-linear or abstract forms of animation.

Have a look at the book "Animation Unlimited" (amazon link).
It's filled with presentations of abstract and experimental animators, many of them showcased on the included DVD.
