I'm animating a bee in this short film - (2D block coloured animation without outlines - medium realism/caracature) and I've run into a problem. Bee's wings beat much faster than any frame rate. Presumably I'll have to show multiple wings in each frame and/or create some kind of wagon-wheel effect. Any ideas, gentlemen?

You've already figured it out - multiple wings per drawing. Add some blur and soft edges, and you're there.

animate the bee on twos, and the wings on ones
Yes, Thanks, P.
Ok - It's allright but the wings look like they're going in any direction apart from up and down. I've included all the frames of the wings down the right hand side.

............Sorted it! Good enough to be my Logo*! (even if it's not enough fps to look that smooth) It's a 5 frame loop now. I could go into more detail about this if anyone's interested.
Isn't there an avatar compo coming up?
*Avatar means a person on earth that represents a god. I'm not big-head enough to use this term.;)
