The Global Effie Awards reward marketing communications initiatives that have proven their effectiveness in multiple markets worldwide. To be eligible, entries must be for a single brand idea that has run in 4 or more countries across at least 2 worldwide regions within the past 3 years.

Any form of consumer engagement is eligible; if you had a great strategy, creative and the results to prove it worked - enter it!

Entries are to be submitted online and by courier to the Effie office in NY. The final entry deadline is Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009.

Held in Swansea, Wales, SAND is a U.K. conference event for CGI animation, digital content and creation, attracting visitors and speakers from around the world, holding sessions on computer games, procedural animation, films, post production techniques, TV commercials and motion capture. Now in its ninth year, the conference is organized by Swansea Metropolitan University in partnership with the Welsh Assembly Government.

Special guest Brent Spiner (Data from STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION) will perform several songs on his new CD DREAMLAND, while also incorporating a storyline throughout. Also performing songs along with Spiner is Maude Maggart, and Mark Hamill (STAR WARS, BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES) performs several roles in the story. The DREAMLAND CD is $25, including an autograph. Spiner will sign one additional item at his 1-3 p.m. appearance.

THE PIT AND THE PENDULUM animated short, a stop-motion adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe's classic short story, directed by animation veteran Marc Lougee and exec produced by animation and vfx icon Ray Harryhausen, is slated to screen over the TriCity Comic Con weekend, October 11, 2008.

The 3rd Annual Tri-City Independent Fan Film Festival takes place Oct. 11, 2008 in conjunction with Tri-City Comic Con (TC3).

3D Biz-Ex will be held September 30-October 1 conference at the Sheraton Universal Hotel in Los Angeles, Calif., effectively covering the broad range of 3D applications -- from the lens to the eye.

Headlining this large gathering of 3D professionals are several experienced and successful creators of live action and animated 3-D movies including: producer Jed Weintrob, Buzz Hays of Sony Pictures Imageworks, Domonic Paris, Gina Gallo and Mimi Maynard of Illuminata Pictures and Jason Brenek of Walt Disney Studios.

The STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS Intergalactic Tour blasts off today in malls around the country. The tour will run eight consecutive weekends, making appearances in eight major cities across the country until it completes its mission on Sunday, November 9.

The tour brings to life both favorite and new characters from the upcoming animated series STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS with interactive activities. STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS, the first weekly television series from Lucasfilm Animation, premieres on Cartoon Network Friday, October 3, at 9 p.m. (ET, PT).
