Tom's experimental digital animated 35mm short "Work In Progress" will be screened and he will discuss his latest projects. Sally Cruickshank's "Make Me Psychic" will also be shown. Tom did ink and paint on this film and it was his first professional job.

Oakland, California-based technology company Digital Element, with the help of NewTek and the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory under the auspices of the Department of Energy's Nuclear Cities Initiative, has been working to open up "Closed Cities" in Russia. These cities do not appear on maps and up to now have been strictly military R&D and production sites. Digital Element trainers and engineers have helped form new Russian software development teams in Snezhinsk and other closed cities to help the towns integrate into the Western market.

The Minnesota Fringe Theater & Performance Festival, now in its eighth year, announces the inclusion of a film and video festival. The tradition of the Fringe is a non-competitive, all-inclusive celebration. All work entered will be programmed on a first come, first served basis. The only requirement is that the short be no longer than 60 minutes in length. The festival is looking for shorts of all categories and production qualities: experimental, fake-docs, horror, music videos, documentaries, student work, recent releases, as well as old 16mm. Films and videos must be submitted on VHS.
Santa Monica-based digital.art.media has announced their work helping DR. DOLITTLE 2 lead VFX studio, Rhythm & Hues, on 53 shots. digital.art.media helped created the lip synch needed to make many of the animal characters talk. "New systems could not circumvent the need for thousands of man-hours to be expended on very tedious artistic work," said Marc Kolbe, president of digital.art.media. "But the effort is worth it when you see the movie.
