Warners, Downey Jr. To Make USS Indianapolis Film
Warner Bros. and Robert and Susan Downey are teaming up to bring the true-life story of the sinking of the USS Indianapolis to the screen, reports Heat Vision. Many will remember the story of the WWII story from Quint's personal retelling in JAWS. The story will center on 11-year-old Hunter Scott, who after watching JAWS, decides to write about the event, going as far as interviewing survivors. He work ultimately leads to the exoneration of court martialed captain Charles McVay.
Robert Schenkkan, who wrote HBO's THE PACIFIC, will write the script based on a story from the Downeys. Jon Berg is shepherding for Warner Bros. and David Gambino for Team Downey.
Previously, J.J. Abrams attempted to make Scott's story into a film.
