Melissa Rosenberg, the screenwriter behind the TWILIGHT series, has been tapped to write and produce an adaptation of Pamela Sargent's EARTHSEED, reports Risky Business. The film will be the first for Rosenberg's Tall Girls Prods.

The story takes place on a spaceship where teens where grown from human DNA in order to populate a new planet. On the ship, they are raised in a simulated Earth, challenging the notions of nature vs. nurture.

Paramount is the studio behind the film and has assigned the project to vp Ashley Brucks.

Sargent recently published sequels to the 1983 novel titled EARTHSEED: FARSEED (2007) and SEED SEEKER (2010).
