Los Angeles, CA -- Short movie channel ShortsHD’s summer-long celebration of award-winning animated short movies continues in August with the network’s Summer of Animation promotion. Following the release on Facebook of acclaimed animated shorts Amazonia, Hybrid Union and Nullarbor, the network will be broadcasting a number of high-profile animated specials and Oscar-winning short movies.

For over 30 years the Spike & Mike Festival of Animation has showcased some of the most creative and award-wining short films from around the world. As part of its Summer of Animation lineup, ShortsHD will premiere a slew of top shorts from Spike & Mike’s extensive catalogue with a one-night special, Spike & Mike Night, on August 19 at 8pm.

Other upcoming animation-related programming on ShortsHD includes Spike & Mike at Comic Con, Bill Plympton’s Plymptoons, an animation special featuring Spike Jonze, short movies from animation icons Paul Driessen and Norm McLaren, along with Best In Fest Presents: Pitch: Cannes ’15.

Animation lovers can look forward to the premiere of the 2014 Academy Award-winning Best Animated short movie Mr. Hublot on Shorts HD, along with The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore, the 2011 Academy Award-winning Best Animation short film.
