Spanish VFX and animation house Onirikal Studio has shared with AWN and VFXWorld a VFX breakdown reel highlighting its work on the Prime Video series, Punto Nemo. Directed by Denis Rovira, the sci-fi drama tells the story of an oceanographic expedition, made up of scientists and the Spanish Navy, that heads out to investigate the plastic debris island located in the South Pacific. A storm then drags them to the furthest point from any inhabited place on Earth: Point Nemo.

Led by Onirikal VFX supervisor Jaume Campos, the studio delivered numerous sequences across the show, filled with dust, destruction, bubbles, fish, fluid simulations, underwater shots, a dramatic shipwreck, even an angry iguana. Their work involved modeling, textures, shading, lighting, 3D animation, rendering and compositing.

Note the series available on both Prime Video and Apple TV+ depending upon your location.
