Licensing Expo: Deals for ‘Powerpuff,’ ‘Peppa Pig,’ ‘Kratts’
The global licensing industry assembles this week in Las Vegas for the 2018 Licensing Expo at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, meaning there’s a slew of animation-related business deals to report.
Cartoon Network Enterprises announced numerous licensing deals for the relaunched version of The Powerpuff Girls, a property celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2018.
Deals include: Mattel will offer Barbie fashions inspired by The Powerpuff Girls, available globally for the holiday season; Champion will launch a collection of limited edition fleece and heritage silhouettes for fall; Mondo T’s will introduce a variety of pins and high-end prints; and, as previously revealed, The LEGO Group will introduce new building sets in August. Additional deals were struck in Brazil with Havaianas for shoes in Brazil; Cremer for personal care products; Dentro da Historia for books; and Amazonia for coconut water.
In Europe, the Middle East and Africa, new deals include: Sabrina Pilewicz for women’s handbags in Poland; Undiz for a line of nightwear and underwear in multiple territories; a nightwear and underwear line from Textiss will be available in France; British fashion designer Katie Eary for a high-end clothing line available globally in the fall; and Bizuu will introduce a new “athleisure” collection in Poland.

Entertainment One announced new licensing partners for its preschool hit series Peppa Pig, which airs in the United States on Nick Junior. New partners include: Colgate-Palmolive for oral care, toothbrushes and toothpaste; Ginsey Home Solutions for soft potty seats and other potty training products; Give & Go for baked goods featuring house-building and cookie-decorating kits; good2grow for juice beverages in containers with character toppers; and Johnson & Johnson Consumer for Band-Aid brand adhesive bandages.

The Kratt Brothers Company, the company behind the hit animated series Wild Kratts, struck a new deal with Old Navy for an apparel line, and renewed deals with Wicked Cool Toys, Pressman and Whole Foods Market.
The 2018 Licensing Expo runs May 22-24.
