KINETICA 4, the iotaCenter's newest touring exhibition pays tribute to the art of abstraction in film and video, opening December 3 at Pacific Film Archive, Berkeley, CA. Presented in two programs: "The Sixties: Spirituality and Psychedelia" (Dec 3, 7:30 pm) and "The Contemporary Program of Abstraction" (Dec 5, 7:30 pm). Featuring many newly preserved films, "The Sixties" Program features abstract animated work by John and James Whitney (Permutations, Lapis, High Voltage), Jordan Belson and Stephen Beck (Cycles), Fischinger (Lumigraph film), Pat O'Neill (7362), Ed Emshwiller (Sunstone), Jules Engel (Rumble), Scott Bartlett (OFFON), and others. The Contemporary Program features work by David Lebrun (Tanka), Sky David (Merkaba), Robert Darroll (Stele), Baerbel Neubauer (Firehouse), Stephanie Maxwell (Please Don't Stop), and others.
